These suggested best practices encourage others in your area to take advantage of the Colorado Concierge training.

Provide discounts for local experiences

Offer local discounts to attractions, restaurants, and accommodations to anyone that has completed the Colorado Concierge program and works in your destination. This method incentivizes frontline workers to complete the Colorado Concierge program and equips them with valuable regional knowledge to communicate to travelers. If a frontline worker has experienced and enjoyed a local offering, they are more prepared to make informed and enthusiastic recommendations to travelers.

We recommend you:

  • reach out to local attractions demonstrating the value of offering a Colorado Concierge discount
  • distribute a community email encouraging frontline workers to take the program, and business owners to spread the word to their employees
  • set up an internal system for tracking program completion (we recommend that you require program participants email a copy of their Colorado Concierge certificate to your local administrator in order to receive access to your discounts)
  • set up a page on your website outlining your local discounts, and promoting adoption of the Colorado Concierge program

Hold a local contest for certified Colorado Concierges

Hold a quarterly prize drawing for Colorado Concierge participants

We recommend you:

  • reach out to your top attractions, or smaller offerings looking to gain more traction, to see if they can donate an experience
  • reach out to community members encouraging them to enter the drawing and track entries via the submission Colorado Concierge certificates
  • work with your local destination partners to create a ‘Host a Colorado Concierge Day’ when Colorado Concierges can visit local attractions to learn more about them

Hold a happy hour for your community’s Colorado Concierges

If you’re looking to find ways to build more connections between your area’s frontline workers, offering space for them to exchange best practices and experiences is a great way to do so. Create a monthly happy hour and invite Colorado Concierge participants to join. Consider structuring the happy hours with games and local trivia. Also consider highlighting local attractions during the happy hour.

Participate in the Colorado Concierge Challenge in May

In May 2021, the Colorado Tourism Office will kickoff an industry-wide training challenge to increase participation in Colorado Concierge. We will highlight destinations with the most engagement on our channels. Continue to further spread this messaging to your community, and consider challenging a fellow destination to do so as well. Encourage your network to compete, and get a chance to be recognized as the community with the most trained Colorado Concierges.

Incorporate Colorado Concierge into your social media outreach
Promote Colorado Concierge through your social media network by pulling content from the five Colorado Concierge training chapters. Pose a safety question to your community or quiz them on a regional fact, and encourage them to complete the full training. Build a plan to regularly remind your destination of the free resource.

Incorporate Colorado Concierge into your onboarding practices

If you are a company, agency or organization the program is a great tool to incorporate into employee onboarding practices, and is helpful for new organizations beginning to build their workplace culture. If you are a destination marketing organization or chamber of commerce, consider including messaging on the Colorado Concierge program during your outreach to new businesses in your area.

Share your success stories with the Colorado Tourism Office to inspire others

If you have found new ways to use Colorado Concierge in your community, spread the message far and wide to your network and let us know. We would like to hear your stories and amplify your experiences. Reach out to the program manager below with your experiences.
