Every year there are over 50 film festivals in Colorado, and the Colorado Office of Fim, Television and Media provides fiscal sponsorships for about 40 of them. While many are well established with decades of festivals under their belts, many new festivals are started every year to meet the needs of local communities and showcase specific local, national, and international artists and filmmakers.
DENVER -- The Location Guide, an International service bringing fim productions and locations together, has announced the finalists for the 2021 Makers and Shakers Award and the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media (COFTM) is one of only two US entities named as finalists.
There are approximately 70 independent, locally-owned movie theaters located outside the Front Range, all of which have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The majority of these theaters are on rural main streets and have an interdependent relationship with art galleries, bars, restaurants and retailers along the same strip. Theaters are an integral part of communities’ social fabric.
DENVER (August 11, 2021) -- “Mr. Delmendo’s Kids”, a documentary short created by students at the Denver School of the Arts under the leadership of Amy McGrath, co-director of the Video Cinema Arts Department, will premiere on PBS 12 on Saturday, August 14 at noon. This documentary short was funded by the Colorado Office of Film, Television and Media’s (COFTM) Film Education Grant program.
Those traveling through Grand Junction and the surrounding area in the next few weeks may run into some not-so-native creatures. The feature film production of Extraction is underway in the Grand Mesa.
Extraction is an action-driven horror film about an elite squad of soldiers who must extract a vaccine from a quarantine zone inhabited by deadly creatures. Filming starts August 1 with both student filmmakers and veterans supplementing a professional cast and crew.
Reclaimed is a Discovery Channel reality television series that follows hosts Alex Charvat and Kevin Gilman as they renovate abandoned, deteriorating mines. Season 1 was filmed throughout Colorado.

Deck Nine Games, a Colorado-based independent game developer, announced the upcoming release of “Life is Strange: True Colors” for September 10, 2021. The game is the fifth installment in the Life is Strange series --a graphic adventure game played from a third-person view.
DENVER (January 29, 2021) — Side Stories, an annual immersive and innovative community experience that transforms Denver’s urban exteriors into cinematic canvases, is returning for a special month-long event. The large-format outdoor film installations will be hosted on the exterior wall of the History Colorado Center facing Broadway from February 1 to 28, 2021.
