New Ways to Explore the Colorado Outdoors This Summer

Summer in Colorado provides myriad amazing opportunities to get outside. Whether you live in the mountains or are a weekend-warrior traveling from the front range, Colorado offers incredible outdoor recreation opportunities of all kinds.

We are outlining a few unique opportunities to get outside that you may not have tried before. Many of us have hiked, biked and skied through the Rockies, but not all of us have explored these one-of-a-kind experiences.

Good Times Adventures

Good Times Adventures was established in 1986 and based in Breckenridge and is the only snowmobile and dog sledding tour facility in Summit County. Good Times Adventures offers summer dogsled tours Tuesday through Saturday, so people can visit the state of the art kennel with over 100 Siberian Huskies. You can even join the team as they run the dogs through their summer daily workout through Swan River Valley.

Four Corners Guides

Four Corners Guides, based in Cortez, offers guided bike/rafting tours throughout Colorado and Utah. Bikerafting is a combination of bikepacking and rafting. It requires a packraft that allows adventurers to cross creeks, streams, rivers and lakes. This form of outdoor recreation is taking off and Four Corners Guides is leading people on their grand adventure. With over seven types of tours of different lengths and locations, these tours allow customers to see Colorado and Utah from a new perspective--the water.

Aspen Alpine Guides - Leave the Boys Behind Program

Aspen Alpine Guides is an Aspen-based professional guide service. Their year-round mountain guiding adventures started in 1987 and include skiing, snowboarding, backcountry hut trips, mountain and road biking, trail running, backpacking, peak climbs, avalanche courses and international treks. All of these activities are available through their Leave the Boys Behind program, a female-specific guide program that offers trips designed and led by women for women.

Kent Mountain Adventure

Kent Mountain Adventure offers rock climbing, via ferratas, hiking, skiing, snow education and perhaps most interesting--overnight cliff camping in Estes Park. If you’ve ever wanted to wake up with majestic views and floating hundreds of feet in the air, this is your chance. This opportunity is open to anyone and does not require you to have years of big-wall climbing experience.

Jet Boat Colorado

Jet Boat Colorado, based in De Beque between Silt and Grand Junction, offers incredible jet boat tours on the Colorado River with breathtaking views of the Colorado mountains and canyons. For adventurers seeking a little bit of adrenaline without needing experience, the jet boat guides provide you with the trip of your life and exciting turns throughout the ride. With fun and knowledgeable drivers, groups can experience a wet and wild adventure or a calmer scenic journey based on what they want.
