Kris is the Co-Founder and CEO of Peak Brewing Co., LLC (d.b.a. Peak Food & Beverage), which has operated Steamworks Brewing Co. for 25 years in Durango and El Moro Spirits & Tavern for the past 9 years. Peak also acquired HomeSlice Pizza in 2021 which has three locations in Durango. The company employs up to 400 full and part time staffers during the busy summer months, and owns an 10% market share of all Durango eating and drinking establishments. Peak Brewing Co. currently has 35 employee-owners and is 40.5% employee owned.
A Colorado native, Kris received a B.A. in Human Performance from Metropolitan State University in Denver. He has served twice as Chair for the Board of Directors for the Durango Area Tourism Office and has been active in the Colorado Restaurant Association, serving as President or Vice President for the Durango Chapter for several years.
He has also served two terms on the board of directors for the Colorado Brewers Guild, and is the past Treasurer and Board Chair of the Business Improvement District Board of Directors in Durango.
Kris was a member of the 2002-2003 class of Leadership La Plata and the 2013 recipient of the Barbara Conrad Award for Outstanding Leadership through the Durango Chamber of Commerce. He also serves as the current Vice Chair for the Region 9 Economic Development Loan Committee.
