Creative Capitol Exhibit: Artworks by Colorado Plein Art Artists

Colorado Plein Art Artists has been selected for the Creative Capitol Exhibition. The exhibit will be active from November 2015 to January 2016.

Every year, over 200 artists are invited to paint “en plein air” (a French term meaning “in the open air”) in the largest urban plein air event in the country, the Colorado Plein Air Arts Festival. Following the festival, artists are invited to submit their plein air works to a juried competition judged by Rose Fredrick, writer and curator of the Coors Western Art Exhibit; and Kimberly Moore, the Director of Colorado LUXE Interiors + Design. The accepted artists’ works are on display on the 7th floor of the Denver Public Library between November and the beginning of January.

This exhibition highlights works from award-winning Colorado artists from the Colorado Plein Air Juried Exhibitions over the years, including the Best of Show winners from the past three – Mikael Olson, Kevin Weckbach, and Jim Beckner. It also includes works from the 2014 1st Place winner, Stephanie Hartshorn, and 3rd Place winner, Virginia Unseld. Although, they all have different styles, each artist reminds us of the very first festival hosted by the Golden Triangle Museum district eight years ago with their cityscapes, construction, and other city living scenes.

The exhibition includes artworks by the following artists:

  • Jim Beckner
  • Stephanie Hartshorn
  • Mikael Olson
  • Robert Spooner
  • Virginia Unseld
  • Kevin Weckbach
