Carl Young is the Huerfano County Administrator and is responsible for County operations and implementing the strategic vision of the County Commissioners.  He has a broad background in policy and politics.  He began his career working in the Chicago headquarters of the 2012 Obama Campaign with a team of researchers dedicated to protecting then-President Obama and the Campaign from legal and political risks.  During the Obama Administration he served in the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), a statutory office within the White House's Office of Management and Budget that is best known for reviewing major federal regulations before publication.  In the private sector he has advised clients, including non-profits, tech startups, and Fortune 100 companies, on how to achieve their strategic policy goals at the state, local, and federal levels.


Carl is an alumnus of Morehouse College and has a Master’s in Public Policy with a focus in Regional Economic Development from George Mason University.  He resides in Walsenburg, Colorado and is proud to serve on the boards of Downtown Colorado Inc. and the Scenic Highway of Legends Inc.
