The Small Business Navigator can answer questions you may have about federal, state, and local licensing requirements. You can reach the navigator by phone or email. The navigator can also refer you to state and federal assistance programs and local small business training.
OEDIT does not issue or require a general business license. Licenses are issued by other state agencies for specific types of business activities and professions.
Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) is responsible for many of the state's licenses, permits, and filings.
Other state agencies that handle regulations include:
- Colorado Department of Natural Resources: Responsible for the development, protection, and enhancement of Colorado natural resources
- Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment: Responsible for public health and environmental regulation
- Colorado Department of Revenue: Collects most types of taxes and issues state identification cards and driver licenses and enforces Colorado laws regarding gaming, liquor, tobacco, racing, auto dealers, and marijuana
