OEDIT Offers First German Outdoor Recreation Virtual Trade Mission

DENVER -- The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade will host a first-of-its-kind virtual trade mission to Germany throughout the month of March, focused on growing the state’s outdoor recreation industry.

During the first two weeks of the month, Colorado companies will participate in a series of webinars, learning best practices and how to operate in the German market, led by AHP International and including such topics as German culture and business, as well as networking events with industry leaders.

These webinars will be followed by two weeks of 1:1 preset meetings between Colorado businesses and potential German business partners.

“While we look forward to returning to in-person trade missions such as ISPO, it is important that we continue to promote the Colorado business and exporting community,” said Michelle Hadwiger, director of Global Business Development at OEDIT. “This outdoor recreation trade mission is the first of many we will host over the coming year.”

Nathan Fey, director of the Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, added, “Outdoor recreation is an essential part of Colorado’s economy and our quality of life. The outdoor recreation economy accounted for 2.1%, or $459.8 billion, of the GDP for the US in 2019. In Colorado, that number jumps to 3.1% of Colorado’s GDP and supports almost 150,000 jobs in our state. Exposing our Colorado-based manufacturers to international markets makes a real impact to Colorado’s outdoor economy and supports good jobs and adequate tax-bases in our local communities. ”

Seven Colorado companies have joined the virtual mission to further expand their brands into the German market:
