Colorado’s Office of Outdoor Recreation Partners with 2021 GoPro Mountain Games

Largest Celebration of Adventure Sports, Arts and Music Provides Outdoor Opportunities for All

DENVER - March 5 - The GoPro Mountain Games is returning to Vail for 2021. Colorado’s Office of Outdoor Recreation (OREC) has partnered with The Vail Valley Foundation to engage Colorado’s abundant outdoor enthusiasts. After a 2020 hiatus, the GoPro Mountain Games will be held June 10-13, 2021.

“Colorado’s outdoors plays a vital role in the physical and mental well-being of all participants, from professional athletes to amateurs, and we are proud to partner with a tremendous Colorado event that showcases the diversity of Colorado’s outdoors through an abundance of outdoor rec events,” said Nathan Fey, Director of OREC. “We appreciate the exhaustive efforts that The Vail Valley Foundation has done to reimagine this event in order to allow participants to safely experience Colorado’s outdoors.”

The GoPro Mountain Games are owned and operated by the Vail Valley Foundation, a non-profit organization that seeks to enhance the quality of life in the Vail Valley through arts, athletics, and education. In addition to competition in 20 separate outdoor events, the outdoor festival includes music, art and daily broadcasts from Outside TV.

“The GoPro Mountain Games are a celebration of everything there is to love about the mountains: fresh mountain air, wide open spaces, amazing people and sports and culture and music,” said Vail Valley Foundation Event Director Dave Dressman. “As a result of extensive planning, we have found a way to bring this event back that allows our athletes to safely come and compete and allows our fans to engage through numerous multi-media experiences, virtual events, and contests to once again celebrate mountain sports and culture.”
