Colorado ActivArmor Providing Respirator Masks for Healthcare Workers

This past Monday, March 30, Colorado-based ActivArmor rolled out their new respirator masks to keep healthcare workers safe and protected during the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The Colorado-based biomedical startup, which traditionally provides hygienic, waterproof alternatives to traditional casting and splinting, was compelled to step up in the face of crisis to help combat the current shortage of N95 masks. They partnered with the University of Maryland’s Robert Fischell Institute for Biomedical Devices to turn their business production around and provide affordable, custom-fitted, reusable respirators.

These unique respirators offer the following benefits:

  • custom fitted to facial scan to provide a more accurate seal against airborne particulates
  • 98.9-99.9% bacterial filtration efficiency
  • transparency for visibility of healthcare worker’s lips to ensure full patient/provider communication
  • reusable and washable
  • lightweight and low-profile

ActivArmor is the recipient of two Office of Economic Development and International Trade Advanced Industries grants, including the Early-Stage Capital and Retention grant, the Advanced Industries Export grant, and funding from the State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) grant partially funded in part by SBA. These grants provide funding to support early production for products that meet a market need and assist businesses that are beginning to export. OEDIT is proud to support Colorado’s businesses that are using innovation and resilience to support communities across the state and around the world.

ActivArmor respirators are available now.
