Impact of COVID-19 on Colorado’s outdoors
During this public health crisis, Colorado’s outdoor spaces have seen a tremendous increase in use as more people head outside for the mental and physical health benefits outdoor activities provide. Our biggest challenge is educating new and under-informed outdoor users about recreating responsibly. In the winter, that means educating Coloradans and out-of-state visitors on the risks involved in exploring Colorado’s winter backcountry, the safety precautions that need to be taken and appropriate equipment necessary to ensure a safe outdoor experience.
